During her residency in autumn 2023, Florencia Sosa Rey will invest space, solitude and local culture to guide her research into interiority, displacement and communion. These explorations will take the form of abstract drawings, performative actions in response to place, workshops with the community, sound recordings and textiles, to unfold a visual and sensory poetry about touch, breath and sound. The aim is to highlight an interdisciplinary approach in which the body serves as a space for blending notions of memory, self-narratives and interdependence.

Florencia Sosa Rey is a visual and performance artist based in Tiohtià:ke/ Mooniyang/ Montréal. She holds a B.A. in Studio Arts from Concordia University and continues her training in body practice through various workshops. Her personal and collaborative work has been presented in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, the United States, Iceland and Argentina. In September 2023, she presents her first solo exhibition at Plein sud, center d'exposition en art actuel, in Longueuil. She is the recipient of research-creation grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des Lettres du Québec.
