CREATIVE WORKSHOP
Marie-Pier Vanchestein ( Montréal, Québec)
* Light does not fill a space uniformly. It varies depending on surfaces, openings, obstacles, and the time of day.
In this workshop, we will create small sculptures that can respond to these variations. We will begin by exploring the space where they will be installed to observe how light moves through it and to choose a location for each one.
Each participant will then build a small wooden structure incorporating a simple mechanism that allows it to adjust its orientation in response to the light. The movements will be slow and subtle, allowing time to observe the interplay between the sculpture, its location, and the conditions at that moment.
When displayed together outdoors, the sculptures will form a collective installation whose composition will slowly change throughout the day.
The artist will be in residence at the Matapédia Station from November 1 through December 22. For more information on how to book a workshop for your organization, please contact Luc Vallières at the Matapédia Station (418-865-2510) or by email: luc@garedematapedia.ca
