In her work, the artist is interested in objects that subtly deviate from their expected function—objects whose behaviors hesitate, resist, diverge, and disrupt the established relationships within the exhibition space. She focuses on creating useless machines from a ubiquitous perspective: the robotic wooden objects she creates are designed neither for efficiency nor productivity, but linger in floating gestures.
Furthermore, Marie-Pier reflects on the idea of “slow technology,” working with subtle movements that foster contemplative interactions. She seeks to distance herself from the cold aesthetic and speed often associated with robotic works. This unhurried pace opens up a space where objects can interact not only with one another but also with viewers. The concept of movement thus allows us to engage with the real world and can be seen as a way to foster a sensitive and poetic exchange with visitors.
