Following her residency at La Gare, the artist presents July, 1953, an exhibition featuring sound installation, video and photographs inspired by hundreds of telegrams found in the attic. inspired by hundreds of telegrams found in the attic. Through an investigative posture the artist seeks to elucidate the events of that summer, exploring the ways in which they may have had an impact on the contemporary global social, political and environmental context.

BIOGRAPHY
naakita feldman-kiss is a queer, multidisciplinary, mixed-roots artist who lives and works in Tio'Tia:Ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. QC. Her work has been presented at MoMA PS1, New York, NY (2012); Trinity Square Video, Toronto, ON (2016); Knot Project Space, Ottawa, ON (2018); Mémoire de l'Avenir, Paris, FR (2019); EXPRESSION, Saint-Hyacinthe, QC (2020); and MAI (Montréal, arts interculturels), Montréal, QC (2022). Iel has received research and production grants from the Centre de ressources en arts numériques (2018), the Montreal Jewish Museum (2020), Les Jardins de Métis (2021) and the Canada Council for the Arts (2020, 2021, 2022). In winter 2023, feldman-kiss will be in residence at Gare Matapédia as part of the Darling Foundry's 2022-2023 cross-residency program.
